Hyeji Im has worked on the development of various alloy systems and multi-scale characterization methods for enhancing the mechanical and oxidation characteristics of high-temperature superalloys. During her postdoc, she focused on the effect of heat treatment on Cu precipitation in 15-5PH steel, additive manufacturing of superalloys, and plasma-facing materials. Her research is primarily focused on advancements in manufacturing processes, particularly additive manufacturing, the development of structural alloys for extreme conditions, materials and methods for sustainability, and local modification of nano/microstructures, and phase transitions.
